Evolutionary Operations on the computer Based upon the definition of evolutionary art, which describes evolutionary operations to generate objects, these operations can be executed either manually, e.g. with a dice, or full or partly by the means of computer techniques. Using the computer will be summarized as computer aided evolutionary art.

Reproduction Operations with the Computer

Especially reproduction operations like storing and duplicating can be executed on a computer in a fast and easy way. Mutations have ton be introduced because computers are optimized for error free storage and duplication. The same is valid for the recombination operation. This operation also contains and random component which has to be generated through a random number generator.

Tasks of the Artist

Interpreting the evolutionary art as an interacting or communication (in german), the artist is a central part of the whole system that builds the communication. The main task of the artist is the description of replication rules and the evaluation of individuals and their attributes based upon a subjective and implicit evaluation model. That means, the operations within the evolutionary process shall be excluded from further discussion of an automation, because the term computer aided means, that parts exist, which are not created via the computer.

Further on enhanced models (in german) could be described in which evaluation models of a person could be simulated by the system.
