Mutation operators

Further on some mutational operators shall be described which are used in the framework of the evolutionary process of the integrated overall process. This is a reinterpretation of a computer based art process in which the selection of appropriate motives is the central point . Thus in the data orientated evolutionary process conventional image processing steps like cutting, moving, scaling, distortion, exemption, color permutation and generating of masks are used to generate variations from a selected amount individual images. For both sequences metamorphoses and the sexual and asexual reproduction different image processing operations are used.

The reproduction and selection operations are determined independently from the used method of variation generation by the artist aside of the computer based technique. Within these strategies it is determined, which operations take place on the individuals and which individuals are selected for recombination.

Metamorphosis Sequence

On the metamorphoses images mainly the asexual reproduction with the operators moving, scaling, cutting and detortion are performed. In the first example only the detortion operation is performed whereas in the second example is characterized by a sequence of copying, RST-Transformation and detortion. Sexual reproduction of metamorphoses images are performed in such a way, that a part of an individual is cut off and detorted and then scaled and put into the structure of another individual.

Space Sequence

On the spaces images the autonomous asexual reproduction is commonly no performed. So mutation operations like moving, scaling and changing of colors only performed in the context of space recombinations. Hence a description in the context of asexual reproduction is omitted.
